Heifer Calving Finished!

We were very pleased to see the safe arrival of the last of our 2017 heifer calves and are now excited to monitor the progress of them throughout the year. 

Overall we were very impressed with the calving success of the heifers, with 67/69 healthy calves born and only two still borns during this time. We continue to be impressed with the calving ease of the Koojan Hills cattle having only needed to assist with four heifers over the calving period.

This year we had 31 AI calves born with 17 Deer Valley Patriot sired calves and 14 sired by Wattletop Franklin G188.  Our back up bulls WKHL42 and WKHL79 ended up with 20 and 15 calves respectively.

The average weight of these calves was just under 33kg.

We are nearing the completion of calving within the mature cow herd who have had an equally successful run.
